Position Overview

The Intelligence Planner will apply intelligence expertise to integrate Defense and National intelligence support capabilities—including collection, analysis, and targeting activities—into overarching operational planning efforts across the Department of Defense (DoD).

 

Mission areas include:

  • Development of campaign plans
  • Deliberate and crisis action planning
  • Time-sensitive planning in accordance with the Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES)
  • Red teaming and other planning support activities

The planner will work closely with stakeholders to ensure intelligence integration, synchronization, and effective execution in support of mission objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the integration of collection, analytic, and targeting capabilities into operational plans.
  • Assist in the development of campaign, contingency, and crisis action plans aligned with JOPES.
  • Provide red team analysis to assess risks, vulnerabilities, and potential adversary courses of action.
  • Facilitate planning, prioritization, and synchronization of activities to achieve effects that sustain military advantage.
  • Build and maintain relationships across the Intelligence Community (IC), DoD, and interagency partners.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Collections Management.
  • Knowledge of the Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES).
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across the IC, DoD, and external partners.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in intelligence planning, or 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with collection managers and crafting requirements.
  • Willingness to provide shift work support if required.
  • Experience in a Joint Staff or Combatant Command (COCOM) J5 role.
  • PMP Certification.
  • BA/BS in International Affairs, Political Science, Foreign Area Studies, or National Security Studies (MA/MS in these fields is a plus).
