    Bluehawk is seeking a Sr. GEOINT Data Scientist for an active role in Springfield, VA.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities: 

    The Sr. Data Scientist in this position will perform macro-level analysis & simulations of current GEOINT systems and strategies in order to optimize collection performance, thus enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the NSG.                                                                                                                                                                                           

    Provide statistical and mathematical support in assisting GEOINT analysts in regional offices and divisions. Supports data analysis to include the following: Temporal analysis, Pattern analysis, Correlation of events, Probability analysis, Regression testing & analysis, Significance testing, Assessments of sampling, Graphical representation of data, Analysis of variance and error. Maintains moves and manipulates data between applications, using appropriate software:  Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Access database management system and/or Oracle. Incorporates comprehensive data collection instruments and procedures. Analyzes complex data using statistical computer software and other tools such as Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS, Geo-statistical Analyst, etc. Writes macros and formulas that analysts and others can apply to test data integrity and to make routine operations streamlined
    Interact directly with NGA/P imagery analyst customers as support requirements arise, and devise an optimal approach to processing and scientifically analyzing spectral imagery in a timely manner given the available tools and techniques.  If requirements cannot be met in a timely manner with available tools and techniques, then new techniques and methods may be explored; Presents processed images and scientific analysis to imagery analysts and managers.  Analysts who use spectral data are usually not familiar with it, and the resulting analysis must be presented and explained in a manner that the customer can understand. Provide ad-hoc informational briefings for the purpose of educating analysts and managers as to the capabilities of spectral processing and its benefit; Support and participate in technical exchange meetings, and community spectral exploitation and technology forums on a limited ad-hoc basis.                                                                                   

    Qualifications

    Required:

    TS/SCI *Preferred NGA experience**

     

    Skills and Experience:

    -Ability to identify, retrieve, manipulate, relate and/or exploit multiple structured and unstructured data sets from various sources, including building or generating new data sets as appropriate.

     

    -Ability to interpret and evaluate the results of data science community’s methods models and/or algorithms, understanding the meaning, limitations and scope of the results, and translate them into insightful output for data science and/or mission and identifying other applications for use.

     

    -Ability to initiate the efficient implementation of methods, tools, and algorithms using a comprehensive range of technologies.

     

    -Ability to lead work unit proactively addressing and responding to the most difficult data science-related challenges in a timely manner while effectively balancing competing priorities

     

    -Demonstrated strong writing and briefing skills to educate managers, senior internal officers and the IC.

     

    -Years of Experience:  10 to 20 (bachelor’s degree in a field related to the support services may count for up to four years of this experience.  A master’s degree in a field related to the support services may count for up to two additional years of this experience.) 

     

    -Experience processing and scientifically analyzing hyper-spectral image data.

     

    -Demonstrated good and oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills with an ability to work cooperatively and effectively as a team member.
